Veterinary Dermatologist

Job Description: Calling all unicorns! When you chose to become a dermatologist, you committed to becoming the unicorn of veterinary specialists. Unique, creative, think-outside-the-box, huge-hearted, and often misunderstood, veterinary dermatologists stand out among other specialists. We are the individuals that lean towards the path less traveled or have forged a whole new path altogether. We do not fit well into assigned specialist corners in a multispecialty huge square-foot hospital, nor do we thrive under corporate-mandated protocols and bottom-line pressure.

At Dermatology Pet Care, we created a workplace that is worthy of a dermatologist: a clinic that inspires and nurtures us as the unique and compassionate doctors we are and celebrates the veterinary care we provide. As the only non-corporate, non-academic, veterinary dermatology clinic in the greater Sacramento area, we stand proudly apart from the rest. Our practice guidelines are based on the needs of our patients and clients and checked/balanced by our needs as a clinic. The effort and care we provide as doctors is what makes us successful as a business, because pet care IS our business. And guess what? Unicorns can make a thriving financially successful business and still stay true to their identity. You can have your rainbow-striped cake and eat it too!

Located in the tree-lined, hipster neighborhood of midtown Sacramento, we are centrally located and draw referrals from all directions. Our referring doctors are loyal and trust us, and our client base is large and growing. The clinic has 5+ modern exam rooms with potential for expansion, a dedicated procedure room with general anesthesia, treatment room, allergen formulation lab, and all the bells and whistles you’ll need to succeed as a dermatologist, including intradermal allergen testing, CO2 laser unit, video otoscopy with intra-aural capability, PHOVIA light therapy, and amazing, dermatology trained support staff.

We offer a generous base salary plus additional production bonus, annual CE allowance along with mentorship and training on and off site for continued professional growth and development, along with health, dental, vision insurance, 401K, and the flexibility to choose your own hours for work-life balance. Because we are always better and stronger together, we believe in team-based decision-making, and offer the potential for collaborative partnership, either as profit-sharing or potential buy-in opportunity. And if you’re new to the area, just know that Sacramento is a well-kept secret, that is less than two hours’ drive to the mountains of Tahoe, or the busy streets of San Francisco, at a fraction of Bay area cost of living.
