We are excited to offer a Wellness Webinar by Erin Wasson (BSW, MSW, RSW) entitled: Befriending Your Nervous System.
Erin will discuss the role the nervous system plays in our health and well-being, the impact of chronic stress on the brain and body, and how boundaries get skewed when we are chronically under pressure. Erin will explore with participants the impact of workplace stress and challenges specific to those who work with the human and animal interface. She will then work with participants to learn about how their brains and bodies are good barometers for how we cope and manage stress.

Dr. Allison Kirby graduated from the University of California Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.
After completing a one-year rotating internship in Santa Rosa, California, she pursued a dermatology residency at Animal Dermatology Clinic-Tustin and later Marina del Rey, where she became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology in 2009.
In addition, to her clinical work, Dr Kirby is dedicated to training future dermatologists, co-authoring several book chapters in veterinary medicine, and contributing to FDA drug studies.
In addition to veterinary dermatology Dr Kirby has graduated from a night culinary school program after finishing her residency and does have a passion for all things food.
At home she has numerous animals including two dogs, two guinea pigs and millions of worms which will her organic garden become a haven for farm to table produce.

This first lecture will cover the functional histopathology of the skin, responses of the skin to injury, basic approaches to reading skin biopsies and interpreting histopathology reports, and optimal practices for communicating and developing relationships with pathologists

Dr. Jennifer Ward received her DVM from Washington State University. She completed a residency and advanced training in anatomic pathology in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Pathology at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine. This was followed by a fellowship in advanced training in dermatopathology at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine. Subsequently, Dr. Ward joined Phoenix Central Laboratory pathology service. She currently is the founding owner and directing pathologist at Specialty Vetpath and SVP Alliance.

This second lecture will include key diagnostic features for selected diseases to demonstrate different histologic patterns in dermatopathology, including inflammatory, non-inflammatory, and neoplastic diseases. Review of special stains and immunostains commonly used in dermatopathology will also be included.
