The Dermatology Consultant is responsible for providing consultation to clients in the pursuit of diagnosis and treatment of dermatological diseases of companion animals (mostly canine and feline but equine, avian and exotics or other species are possible) through both phone conversation and as brief, written advice to accompany a dermatopathology report completed by an anatomic pathologist, supporting excellence and improvement in our current and future Dermatology laboratory practices and test offerings, and providing clinical education, support and explanation of Antech Dermatology lab offerings and practices to current and potential clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•              Peer to peer consultation (mainly telephone, occasionally email) with Antech clients regarding interpretation and / or selection of laboratory results and case management.

•              Provision of a written consultation advice (clinical assessment, treatment recommendations, follow up, prognosis, etc.) to accompany a dermatopathology report, resulted by a board certified veterinary anatomic pathologist.

•              Achieve and maintain superior knowledge of Antech offerings and services, including proprietary testing.

•              Provide clinical education, support and explanation of Antech Dermatology lab offerings and practices to current and potential clients.

•              Support excellence and improvement in our current and future Dermatology laboratory practices and test offerings.

•              Build and strengthen rapport with clients in the process of consultation.

•              Assist in other duties relevant to consultation services and other Antech departments.

•              Attend consultant meetings and continuing education seminars, as indicated.

•              May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.

•              May be asked to participate in the creation or provision of client support materials (e.g., presentations, webinars, support documents, videos, podcasts, etc.) as required.

•              Excellent verbal (over the phone and in person) communication skill including: listening, asking the right questions to understand the situation and the client’s needs, ability to explain and distill down medical concepts in a collegial, professional and clear way, communication with kindness and empathy.

•              Proven ability and willingness to learn how to navigate challenging conversations.

•              Excellent written communication skills.

•              Verbal and written communication skills to extend to communication with colleagues within and across Antech departments.

•              A strong commitment to practicing the highest standards of medical quality and staying abreast of the emerging medical literature while upholding the veterinary code of ethics.

•              Very comfortable with use and mastery of information technology platforms, including but not limited to Microsoft programs (Outlook, Teams, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.), Cisco Systems, proprietary lab-based programs, and willingness to be flexible, learn and adapt to new technologies, as they emerge.

•              Ability to identify areas of potential opportunity, suggest ways to solve a problem or capitalize on an opportunity alongside a willingness to so the work to see it through to fruition.

•              Analytical and problem-solving skills.

•              Ability to prioritize and stay organized, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

•              Proven ability to work effectively with clients and management is required.

•              The ability to work effectively remotely with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience:
•              Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent with active license in the state or province in which you reside.

•              Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Dermatologists.

•              Minimum 5 years clinical experience after completing board certification.

•              Track record of routinely attending high-quality continuing education.

•              Fluency in English. Bilingual candidate (especially French) is desirable.
