The Veterinary Clinical Sciences department in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, located in Ames, Iowa, invites applications for a full-time, clinical-track or tenure-track faculty position in Dermatology. The qualifications, documented experience, and interests of the selected candidate will determine appointment rank. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to collaborate with the current accomplished team of veterinary dermatologists and allied specialists in the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC). The primary responsibilities of this position will be divided between clinical duty, didactic and laboratory teaching, development of scholarly works, academic service and outreach activities. The percentage of effort dedicated towards these duties is dependent on the applicant, chosen track, department, and service’s needs. The selected candidate will be committed to the delivery of exceptional patient care, share an enthusiastic dedication to education and will contribute to the enhancement of the national prominence of the Dermatology and other sections practicing in the LVMC. The successful candidate will also have a collegial, collaborative attitude and willingness to participate in all levels of technician, student, and house officer education. The candidate will be highly self-motivated, innovative, and will possess excellent communication skills and experience working with a varied population. Furthermore, the candidate will demonstrate professional maturity with a leadership style that contributes to a positive culture, and have a compassionate and empathetic nature towards the clients and patients of the LVMC. Required Minimum Qualifications: DVM or equivalent degree. Successful completion of an American College of Veterinary Dermatology (or equivalent) approved residency training program. Candidates in their third year of an approved dermatology residency training program will also be considered and are encouraged to apply. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, CLINICAL ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, FULL PROFESSOR OR CLINICAL FULL PROFESSOR: Candidates must meet the requirements commensurate for each rank at the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine regarding Professional Practice, Teaching, Research and Scholarly Activities, and Institutional Service. Preferred Qualifications: Board certified by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD), European College of Veterinary Dermatology (ECVD), Fellows of the Dermatology Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (DCANZCVS) or the Asian College of Veterinary Dermatology (AICVD).An advanced degree (MS, PhD, or equivalent degree).Documented experience in veterinary dermatology practices and standards of care. A record of scholarship obtained through manuscript publication/preparation; or national scholarly, clinical, educational presentations; or evidence of having applied for, received, or completed grants/funding. Experience with clinical instruction of professional students or other trainees.
