The Opportunity
We are seeking a Veterinary Dermatologist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will primarily work at our hospital in central Auckland, expanding and further developing our existing dermatology service which is currently solely operating out of our North Shore hospital. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse caseload while collaborating with other specialists to deliver the highest standard of care.
Key Responsibilities
• Patient Diagnosis & Management: Perform thorough dermatological examinations, develop tailored treatment plans, and manage chronic skin, ear, and allergic conditions.
• Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize skin scrapings, cytology, histopathology, allergy testing, cultures, and imaging to diagnose dermatological diseases.
• Surgical Procedures: Perform dermatological surgeries, including biopsies and mass removals, as required.
• Client Communication & Education: Provide pet owners with clear explanations, treatment plans, and ongoing dermatological care recommendations.
• Collaborative Care: Work closely with our other specialty teams to deliver integrated care for complex cases.
• Leadership & Development: Contribute to the establishment of a new dermatology service and help mentor and train colleagues within the practice.

Qualifications & Skills
• Board certification or residency training in veterinary dermatology (e.g., ACVD, ECVD, FANZCVS).
• Strong clinical expertise in dermatology, including allergy management and dermatologic surgery.
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for patient care and client education.
• A commitment to collaboration and teamwork, as well as training of interns and residents.
• Eligibility to register as a veterinarian in New Zealand.
